Union Station New Haven is seeking input from businesses and commercial partners interested in bringing new retail, dining, and customer-focused services to the station as part of its ongoing renovation and broader transformation into a more active, welcoming, and modern transit hub. With more than 3.7 million customers passing through the station each year, the goal is to activate currently underused spaces, enhance the customer experience, and create opportunities for local businesses and unique New Haven offerings. The RFI will help the Union Station Partnership better understand potential tenant interest, concepts, space and operational needs, and any barriers businesses may face before a potential formal leasing or RFP process in early 2027.of the East and West Lots at New Haven Union Station.

No, but site visits are recommended for interested respondents. Site visits can be scheduled with NHPA through December 11, 2026, and businesses are not limited to one visit.
The RFI is open to a wide range of retail and customer-focused concepts, including coffee shops, grab-and-go food, restaurants, bar service, convenience retail, local goods, bike-related services, small-format grocery, personal services, pop-ups, kiosks and carts, as well as other uses that are compatible with a transit environment.
No. This is a Request for Interest intended for planning and information-gathering purposes only. Submitting a response does not guarantee participation in a future leasing or procurement process. Information gathered through the RFI may help inform a future RFP, lease offering, pilot program, concession agreement, or other procurement process, potentially beginning in January 2027.
Respondents should provide basic information about their business and proposed concept, including business and contact information, the type of business, proposed use, preferred space and square footage, storage and utility needs, operating hours, signage needs, anticipated investment and fit-out requirements, and how the concept would operate within a busy transit center. Respondents may also include supporting materials such as photos, concept sketches, menus, product lists or examples of previous projects.
